Early Life and Career

Born on March 6, 1989, in Krakow, Poland, Agnieszka Radwanska began playing tennis at the age of 4. With Pete Sampras and Martina Hingis as her noted inspirations, she became a professional tennis player in her early teens. Radwanska first turned heads with an impressive performance to win the 2005 Wimbledon girls' singles

championship, and she went on to claim the junior French Open title the following year.

Professional Tennis Career

Making her first Grand Slam appearance at Wimbledon in 2006, Radwanska advanced to the fourth round before losing to Belgian star Kim Clijsters. The following year,

she triumphed at the Nordea Nordic Light Open to become the first Polish woman to win a WTA event.

Radwanska added three more WTA titles in 2008, and advanced to the quarterfinals at the Australian Open and Wimbledon. Despite playing her way into the Top 10, she

suffered through an extended victory drought until finally notching another WTA title at the 2011 Mercury Insurance Open.

Radwanska enjoyed tremendous success during the 2012 season, securing titles at the Dubai Tennis Championships, the Sony Ericsson Open and the Brussels Open. She also

reached the final round of the Wimbledon singles draw, making her the first Polish woman in the Open era to advance that far in a Grand Slam, before losing to American

Serena Williams. The strong run boosted her ranking to a career-high No. 2.

The 2013 season was also successful for the Polish star, who added three more titles and advanced to at least the quarterfinal round of three of the four major

tournaments. At the conclusion of 2014, she announced the hiring of tennis great Martina Navratilova as her coach.
