Billy Strayhorn

Billy Strayhorn is best known for his musical collaborations with Jazz legend Duke Ellington, including “Take the ‘A’ Train”.

Synopsis

Billy Strayhorn was born November 29, 1915 in Dayton, Ohio. In 1938 he approached Duke Ellington with one of his compositions, "Lush Life", and the two worked together from then on many works. Ellington and Strayhorn became so intertwined musically, it was said neither could distinguish specific contributions to pieces.
