Black Hawk

Black Hawk was the leader of a faction of Sauk and Fox Indians whose resulted in the brief but tragic Black Hawk War of 1832.

Synopsis

Born in 1767 in the Virginia Colony, Black Hawk was the leader of a faction of Sauk and Fox Indians. Antagonistic to whites settling in his people's territory, Black Hawk joined the British in several battles in the War of 1812. In 1832 Black Hawk led his people across the Mississippi to resist further white encroachments. They met heavy resistance and Black Hawk was eventually captured.
