Charles W. Fairbanks

Charles W. Fairbanks was a U.S. attorney and senator who was the country’s 26th vice president under Theodore Roosevelt.

Synopsis

Born on May 11, 1852, in Union County, Ohio, Charles W. Fairbanks grew up in a log cabin that was also an abolitionist household and went on to work as a lawyer. He served in the Senate from 1897-1905 and would become vice president under Theodore Roosevelt in 1905. Fairbanks later split from Roosevelt politically and ran again for vice president in 1916. He died on June 4, 1918.
