Chen Ning Yang

Chinese-American physicist Chen Ning Yang was co-awarded the 1957 Nobel prize for work on parity nonconservation of weak interaction.

Synopsis

Chen Ning Yang is Chinese-American theoretical physicist whose research with Tsung-Dao Lee showed that parity is violated when elementary particles decay. Until the discovery, it had been assumed by physicists that parity symmetry is as universal a law as the conservation of energy. The two were co-awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics for 1957. At age 82, Yang married 28-year-old Weng Fan.
