French novelist Claude Simon’s novels include The Wind; The Grass; and The Flanders Road. He received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1985.

Synopsis

Novelist Claude Simon was born in Tananarive, Madagascar. He was educated at Paris, Oxford, and Cambridge universities, fought in World War II, and later earned a living producing wine. His novels include Le Vent (1957, The Wind), L'Herbe (1958, The Grass), and La Route des Flandres (1960, The Flanders Road). He received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1985.
