Californian Glenn Woodward Davis won the 1946 Heisman Trophy as a halfback at Army, setting the career record for average yards per carry, 8.3. Davis and his teammate, Doc Blanchard, were nicknamed Mr. Outside and Mr. Inside, respectively, for taking the United States Military Academy at West Point to three consecutive National Titles (1944-1946).
