Jeff Corwin is a conservationist and the television host and producer of The Jeff Corwin Experience on the Animal Planet network.
Jeff Corwin was born on July 11, 1967 in Norwell, Massachusetts. After receiving his master's degree in wildlife conservation, Corwin went on became a television host and producer on cable nature shows including The Jeff Corwin Experience and Corwin's Quest (both for Animal Planet). Active in wildlife rescue and environmental causes, Corwin lives in Marshfield, Massachusetts.
Early Life and Education
Conservationist, wildlife biologist and television host Jeffrey Samuel Corwin was born on July 11, 1967 in Norwell, Massachusetts. The son of a police officer, Corwin was raised in a small, upper-class community south of Boston. He received his degrees in biology and anthropology from Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, and his master??s degree in wildlife and fisheries conservation from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He was also certified as an Advanced Field Medical Specialist by the U.S. Army Academy of Health Sciences.
An active conservationist, Corwin helped establish the Emerald Canopy Rainforest Foundation after visiting Belize for the first time in 1984. He continues to lecture on wildlife, ecology and conservation across the United States. Corwin briefly hosted Disney Channel's Going Wild With Jeff Corwin but is best known as host and executive producer of The Jeff Corwin Experience and Corwin's Quest, two shows airing on Animal Planet.
In 2007, he began filming a series for the Travel Channel called Into Alaska with Jeff Corwin. In 2009, Corwin hosted a documentary series called Feeling the Heat in a partnership with the conservationist group Defenders of Wildlife. As a board member of Defenders of Wildlife and a correspondent for NBC News, Corwin is actively involved in the recovery effort to save wildlife and the affected habitats as a result of the 2010 oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.
On March 22, 2007, while filming in Cambodia, Corwin was attacked by an angry elephant. Corwin walked away from the terrifying attack with a just a few relatively injuries to his arm. He lives with his wife and daughter in Marshfield, Massachusetts.
