Jupp Derwall
During his tenure as national coach, German association football (soccer) manager Jupp Derwall guided West Germany the 1980 European championship title.
Synopsis
Jupp Derwall was born March 10, 1927 in Würselen, Germany. After World War II, he played professionally and made two appearances in 1954 with the national team. After retiring as a player in 1959, he coached at the club level until he was recruited in 1970 as assistant to the national coach. He became head coach soon after the 1978 World Cup. He retired in 1988.
