Nazi leader Klaus Barbie was head of the Gestapo in Lyon from 1942 to 1944, and was held responsible for the death and deportation thousands.

Synopsis

Klaus Barbie was a member of the Hitler Youth and in 1935 joined the Sicherheitsdienst. After German forces overran western Europe in World War II, he served in The Netherlands and then, in 1942, was made chief of Gestapo Department IV in Lyon. In this position he promoted the torture and execution of thousands of French prisoners. After the war, he was convicted of crimes against humanity.
