Kwame Anthony Appiah

Philosopher, novelist and scholar Kwame Anthony Appiah is known for his contributions to political philosophy, moral psychology and the philosophy of culture.


Kwame Anthony Appiah was born on May 8, 1954, in London, England. He taught philosophy, African studies and African-American studies. His early writings concerned the philosophy of language but he later turned his attention to political and cultural issues. In Color Conscious: The Political Morality of Race, he argued that the notion of biological race is problematic.
