Synopsis
Famed writer Larry McMurtry was born on June 3, 1936, in Wichita Falls, Texas. His first novel was Horseman, Pass By (1961). He published The Last Picture Show—the first novel of a series—in 1966, later receiving an Academy Award for the screenplay. McMurtry's frontier epic, Lonesome Dove, earned him a Pulitzer Prize in 1986. In 2005, he won an Academy Award for best adapted screenplay for Brokeback Mountain.
