Nick Drake

The music of British singer-songwriter Nick Drake wasn’t a hit during his lifetime, but his albums Fruit Tree and Pink Moon have gained fans over the years.

Born in Myanmar in 1948, singer-songwriter Nick Drake grew up in England and took up the guitar at age 16. His melancholy music caught the ear of Ashley Hutchings from the folk rock band Fairfield Convention, who helped Drake get a recording contract. His three albums, Five Leaves Left, Bryter Later and Pink Moon were rediscovered after Drake's death from a drug overdose in 1974.
