P.G.T. Beauregard

P.G.T. Beauregard served as a general in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War. He participated in major battles at Fort Sumter and Bull Run.

Synopsis

P.G.T. Beauregard was born in Louisiana on May 28, 1818. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1838. When Louisiana seceded from the Union in 1861, he resigned and joined the Confederate Army where he served as a full general. A talented commander, he also questioned orders. After the war, he worked as a railroad director and managed the Louisiana lottery.
