Philip Barry was an American playwright and dramatist best known for writing comedies, often on religious themes. He wrote his first play, No Thoroughfare, at age 13 but perfected his craft while he studied at Yale. His first production was A Punch for Judy in 1921. He went on to write a number of plays, the most well-known is The Philadelphia Story.
