Sherilyn Fenn

Actress Sherilyn Fenn is best known for playing Audrey on the critically acclaimed series ‘Twin Peaks.’

Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1965, actress Sherilyn Fenn started out her career with small roles on such TV shows as Heart of the City and 21 Jump Street. In 1988, she starred in the film Two Moon Junction. But her big break came in 1990 with the critically acclaimed series Twin Peaks. Fenn also worked on such films as Wild at Heart (1990) and Boxing Helena (1993). She later starred in the series Rude Awakening from 1998 to 2001 and more recently has appeared on Magic City and Ray Donovan.

Early Life and Career

Born on February 1, 1965, in Detroit, Michigan, actress Sherilyn Fenn grew up in the music world. Her mother, Arlene Quatro, was a musician who played with her sister Suzi Quatro in the group the Pleasure Seekers. Her father, Leo Fenn, managed the group for a time and later worked with Alice Cooper. She and her two older brothers moved around a lot as her mother went through several marriages during her childhood.

Fenn moved out to California with her mother when she was 17 years old. There she decided to pursue acting instead of finishing high school, enrolling at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. The young actress met fellow future star Johnny Depp while working on a student project. The pair soon became an item, with Fenn even making a guest appearance on Depp's hit TV series 21 Jump Street. Then in 1988, Fenn had a lead role in the romance drama Two Moon Junction. The racy film, however, failed to find much of an audience.

David Lynch and 'Twin Peaks'

Fenn's career really took off when she won the coveted role of Audrey Horne on David Lynch's surreal drama Twin Peaks. The series debuted in 1990 and audiences soon fell for Fenn's Audrey, a rich girl and a bit of a troublemaker. Her character is pivotal to the show's central drama, which involved the murder of fellow high school student Laura Palmer. Despite only lasting for two seasons, the show developed a devoted cult following that's lasted for decades. Fenn also received Emmy and Golden Globe Award nominations for her work on the show.

Fenn also worked with Lynch on his film Wild at Heart (1990), starring Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern. Fenn later co-starred with John Malkovich and Gary Sinise in the 1992 film adaptation of John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men. Then in 1993, she played the title role in Jennifer Chambers Lynch's controversial film Boxing Helena. The movie, however, was better known for the surrounding legal battle than for the film itself. Actress Kim Basinger had been sued by the film's producers after she dropped out of the project.

Other TV Series

In 1998 Fenn returned to series television with Rude Awakening, playing Billie Frank, a has-been actress who struggles with alcoholism. The show lasted for three seasons, and Lynn Redgrave co-starred as Frank's mother. Fenn went on to land recurring roles on Dawson's Creek in 2002 and Boston Public in 2003 to 2004. Around this time, she also appeared on the popular mother-daughter drama Gilmore Girls in a recurring role.

In recent years, Fenn remains a popular television actress. She has appeared in Magic City with Jeffrey Dean Morgan and in Ray Donovan with Liev Schreiber. Fenn is also expected to reprise her role as Audrey Horne in a new installment of Twin Peaks set to air in 2016.

Personal Life

Fenn has two children. She has one son, Myles, from her first marriage to musician Toulouse Holliday. In 2007, she welcomed her second child, son Christian, from her relationship with computer consultant Dylan Stewart.
