Willy Brandt

Willy Brandt was a German statesman, leader of the German Social Democratic Party and chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany (1969–74).

Synopsis

After fleeing Germany when the Nazis appeared and later returning, Willy Brandt became leader of the German Social Democratic Party (1964–87) and chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany (1969–74). He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1971 for his efforts toward reconciliation between West Germany and the countries of the Soviet bloc. He has written several books, including his memoirs.
