Angie Harmon is an American model and actress who has starred on the series Baywatch Nights, Law & Order and Rizzoli & Isles.

Born in Texas in 1972, Angie Harmon is an American model and actress. Both of her parents are models, so she began modeling as a baby. When Harmon was 15 years old, she beat out 63,000 other contestants in a national contest for the cover spot on Seventeen magazine. In the 1990s, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting and was soon "discovered" by David Hasselhoff. She starred in the series Baywatch Nights before landing a leading role in Law & Order in 1998. In 2010, Harmon debuted her latest hit series Rizzoli & Isles.

Early Life and Career

Born on August 10, 1972, in Dallas, Texas, Angie Harmon has spent most of her life in front of a camera. Both of her parents are models, and she began modeling when she was a baby. Her first brush with fame came as a newborn, when she appeared in "How to Give Your Baby a Bath." When Harmon was 15 years old, she beat out 63,000 other contestants in a national contest for the cover spot on Seventeen magazine.

After graduation from Highland Park High School in 1990, Harmon won the Spectrum Model Search and soon was gracing the runways for such noted designers as Calvin Klein, Versace, Donna Karan, and Valentino, among others. She went on to model for Vogue, Cosmopolitan, GQ, Esquire, and Harper's Bazaar. During this time, she also began studying acting.

Acting Career

Harmon moved to Los Angeles in the mid-1990s to concentrate on an acting career. In 1995, she was "discovered" when she met producer-actor David Hasselhoff on a transcontinental flight and impressed him enough to be offered the lead in the detective series spin-off Baywatch Nights. Harmon quickly segued to ABC's short-lived drama C-16 (1997-98), playing a rookie FBI agent.

Harmon's first movie gig was in the independent film Lawn Dogs (1997) with Sam Rockwell. In 1998, she was landed the role of Assistant District Attorney Abbie Carmichael on the award-winning NBC series Law & Order. She also appeared in episodes of Law & Order: SVU.

After leaving Law & Order in 2001, Harmon seemed to struggle professionally. She tried her hand at medical drama with the 2005 short-lived series Inconceivable. In 2007, Harmon returned to crime drama with Women's Murder Club based on books written by James Patterson. This time around, she played a cop instead of a lawyer. But, unfortunately the series only lasted for one season.

Harmon had better luck with her next major television venture. She and Sasha Alexander scored a hit as the crime-solving team of Rizzoli & Isles. Harmon plays Detective Jane Rizzoli and Alexander plays medical examiner Maura Isles in this popular crime drama, which debuted in 2010.

Personal Life

In June 2001 Harmon married former New York Giants football player Jason Sehorn. Sehorn proposed to Harmon while she was making a guest appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 2000. The couple has three daughters—Finley, Avery and Emery. When she is not filming in Los Angeles, Harmon lives with her family in North Carolina. Harmon has nicknamed her husband "the Horn" and their children "the Hornettes." In November 2014, after 13 years together, the couple announced they were ending their marriage.

Outside of acting, Harmon is active in several charities. She supports Unicef, the Alliance for Children's Rights and the Children's Institute.
