George Lyman Kittredge

American scholar George Lyman Kittredge taught English at Harvard University from 1888 to 1936. He wrote books about Chaucer and Shakespeare.

Synopsis

American literary scholar and educator George Lyman Kittredge was born in 1860 in Boston. He graduated from Harvard in 1882 and taught Latin at Phillips Exeter Academy for a few years before returning to Harvard in 1888 to teach until his retirement. He wrote about Shakespeare, Chaucer, and Sir Thomas Malory. He established himself as an expert on English literature.
