Irene Dunne

Irene Dunne was an Academy Award-nominated actress and singer known for her roles in Showboat, Anna and the King of Siam and Love Affair.

Synopsis

Born on December 20, 1898, in Louisville, Kentucky, Irene Dunne had hoped for an opera career before joining the touring musical ironically named Irene. She became a stage and film actress who did drama and comedy, with roles in Showboat as well as works like Ann Vicker, The Age of Innocence, Sweet Adeline and I Remember Mama. Dunne earned five Academy Award nominations. She died on September 4, 1990, in Los Angeles, California.
