Thomas Lodge
Thomas Lodge was a 16th and 17th century writer and physician. His works were instrumental in the shaping of two of William Shakespeare’s plays.
Synopsis
Born around 1558 with roots thought to be in London, Thomas Lodge studied law before writing socially-oriented pamphlets and long-form literature, including Scillaes Metamorphosis (1589) and Rosalynde (1590); both were major influences for William Shakespeare's Venus and Adonis (1593) and As You Like It (1603), respectively. Travelling internationally and working as a physician in his later years, Lodge died in 1625.
