Mike Leigh

Mike Leigh is a British film director and playwright who’s known for his use of improvisation. He won best director at Cannes for his film Naked.

Synopsis

Mike Leigh was born on February 20, 1943 in, Salford, Lancashire, England. His first play, The Box Play, began his use of improvisation and collaboration with actors. He made his film debut with Bleak Moments and later directed Naked, for which he won best director at the Cannes Film Festival. In recent years his film Secrets and Lies and Vera Drake were internationally acclaimed.
