Hilda Doolittle
Hilda Doolittle (or H.D.) was a poet of the avant-garde Imagist movement and was openly bisexual.
Synopsis
Hilda Doolittle (aka H.D.) was born on September 10, 1886 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania but lived most of her life in Europe. As a poet she was influenced by Ezra Pound and her work is often associated with the Imagists. Doolittle was openly bisexual and discussed her relationships with Sigmund Freud. Her writings were rediscovered in the 1970s when she served as an icon for both the gay rights and feminist movements. She died in 1961.
