Malcolm Crowley was a literary critic and social historian who took part in Depression-era political debate.
Synopsis
Malcolm Cowley was literary editor of the New Republic (1929–44) and took part in many Depression-era literary and political battles, usually on the leftist side. He revived the reputation of William Faulkner with The Portable Faulkner. His books include Exile's Return, a history of expatriate American writers, and The Literary Situation, on the role of writers in society.
